Habitat Bank Onboarding Explainer: A Simple 7-Step Guide
Welcome to Biodiversity Units UK! If you’re a Habitat Bank interested in working with us, this blog is designed to give you a clear, step-by-step explanation of how we onboard new partners.
We’ve made the process as simple, transparent, and automated as possible - so you can get up to speed in your own time, feel confident about what’s involved, and focus on doing what you do best: delivering high-quality nature recovery.
Let’s walk you through it:
Step 1: Get in Touch (or We’ll Reach Out to You)
You might contact us directly - just email info@biodiversity-units.uk - or we might reach out to you after discovering your site on the Natural England Register or through our own research.
Either way, step one is simply starting a conversation.
Step 2: Get Our Habitat Bank Intro Pack
Here’s a downloadable ‘Habitat Bank Intro Pack’ with all the key information. Click here to get it.
This includes:
An intro deck explaining how we work with both developers and habitat banks
Our Referral Agreement, which outlines our commercial terms
Our Ethical Policy, showing how we ensure fair representation across all Habitat Banks we work with
You can review this material at your own pace.
Step 3: Ask Questions
Once you’ve reviewed the pack, we encourage you to explore our FAQs for Habitat Banks. These cover most of the common questions we get.
Still have queries?
You can book a call here with one of our team for a one-to-one discussion. We’re here to help.
Step 4: Sign the Referral Agreement
Once you’re happy, we’ll send over a digital Referral Agreement via Signable, a secure e-signature platform (similar to DocuSign).
We’ll need a few details to create this document - name, job title, email, etc. - and then you’ll receive the agreement to sign digitally. Complete this form and we’ll create the agreement
Step 5: Set Your Prices & Upload Your Inventory
You’ll be invited to access our digital inventory platform, where you can:
Upload the habitat units you have available
Set your prices (we can advise if you’d like input)
Indicate any discounts for adjoining or out-of-area sales (e.g., regional or all-England rates)
Once submitted, our team may review and recommend price tweaks to ensure competitiveness - or approve them as-is.
Step 6: Start Selling & Get Monthly Reports
Once you’re live on the platform, we’ll start putting you forward for relevant projects. The sales cycle in property development can be slow, but rest assured—we’re working in the background, submitting quotes and engaging property developers.
To keep you informed, we send a monthly automated report from our CRM system, detailing:
Active opportunities involving your bank
Status of deals (won, lost, likely to proceed, or open)
Notes from our team on how deals are progressing
No more being left in the dark.
Step 7: Keep Your Inventory Up to Date
You’ll have ongoing access to your digital inventory dashboard, where you can:
Add or remove available units
Adjust pricing at any time
Update discount settings or availability by habitat type
The system is fully dynamic and automated - so if you change your prices today, any quotes we issue from that point onward will reflect your new pricing.
Likewise, if you’ve sold out of a certain unit type or want to pause sales temporarily, just log in and update your inventory. It gives you full control and ensures everything we quote is accurate and up to date.
Final Word
Our aim is to be the most trusted and effective sales partner for Habitat Banks across the country. We value transparency, fairness, and responsiveness - and we’re always evolving to make your experience smoother.
